"Missouri Foreign-Born Elderly:
Legislative & Resource Training for the Social Service Professional"

Three hour luncheon is designed to be an intense educational and
innovative training opportunity to provide professionals and those
interested in working in the field of aging with vital information
about current state and federal policies, resources and tangible CLAS
skills when working with a growing ethnic and aging Missouri
population. It has become evident that many of our elderly have
fallen through the cracks in receiving assistance due to their lack
of knowledge of the system and the English language.
Professional have expressed a concern and are frustrated with the
limited resources to provide services and a higher quality of life
for our foreign-born in their later years of life. The program seeks
to provide expanded resources to assist with clients of foreign-born
populations with the review of the newly implemented rules of House
Bill #1011. It will give professionals a review of CLAS standards
when working with our elderly and foreign-born populations.
