Three hour luncheon is designed to be an intense educational and innovative training opportunity to provide professionals and those interested in working in the field of aging with vital information about current state and federal policies, resources and tangible CLAS skills when working with a growing ethnic and aging Missouri population. It has become evident that many of our elderly have fallen through the cracks in receiving assistance due to their lack of knowledge of the system and the English language.

Professional have expressed a concern and are frustrated with the limited resources to provide services and a higher quality of life for our foreign-born in their later years of life. The program seeks to provide expanded resources to assist with clients of foreign-born populations with the review of the newly implemented rules of House Bill #1011. It will give professionals a review of CLAS standards when working with our elderly and foreign-born populations.

Learn the practical implications of CLAS standards
Develop the skills and tools for utilizing standards for cultural competence
Gain techniques for maintaining standards while seeking resources and benefits for older adults, including but not limited to, the impact of culture on how older adults access services and the affect of ethnicity of benefits eligibility.
